Crystal Hayes began a remarkable 14 day super-food super-green organic cleanse journey this week. This is her blog, in her own words, of her experience on the first three days of the cleanse. This cleanse/fast is powerfully filled with amazing green-foods. She drinks plenty of water and is open-minded to its benefits.
DAY 1: I won't eat anything solid for the 1st 7 days, except for the green drinks, herbs, and plenty of water. My regular diet is very clean already so between this and my yoga I am looking forward to better health this year and forever.
I am very pleased to find that at the end of my first day of the 14 day super-food wheat grass fast I feel extremely energized! This time most nights, I am beginning to fade. Not tonight, I am feeling alert, clear, and calm. It was a little weird going without solids all day, my mouth felt a little dry, and the trips to the bathroom feels like it's every 10 minutes but that's the process of detoxification!
11:24 pm: Wow, I shouldn't be able to keep my eyes open right now! I am NEVER up this late and if I am, I am not coherent and smiling. This is crazy! Once this fast program is complete, I am thinking about fasting every week for at least one day a week if it will mean this level of functioning. Time to journal and force myself to sleep.
DAY 2: Today is Day 2 of my 14 day super-green fast. No solid foods, organic wholefood supplements, and super-green drinks 5 times a day. I am not hungry or fatigued. I had to force myself to sleep last night I had so much energy. I woke up this morning feeling alert and calm.
This is the end of day 2 of my cleansing fast. I worked 12 hours and ran an evening workshop. Not once did I get the mid-day fatigue or brain fog. I finally completed a task this morning that was on my to-do list for 3 months, and I didn't even feel compelled to cheat around all that food in my office or the workshop!
DAY 3: Today I really could tell it was doing great things for my system. The increased energy is the best part. I am forced to drink a lot of water because my mouth feels a little dry but other than that it's great. Psychologically it feels weird eating no solid foods just super green drinks five-six times a day but I am not craving a meal or anything. This has been great spiritually and emotionally. I am getting stuff done, rethinking habits, and recommitting myself to my best health.
This will change the way I eat forever. My regular diet is really clean (no processed foods, organically grown local foods, grassfed beef and organic chicken) so I suspect that's why I am not going through the fatigue and sickness that most people struggle with during a fast. Still, this is amazing. My plan is to lose some weight, teach my body to live off less food, and become a yoga instructor this year. I may even become a vegetarian, but I haven't decided that yet. All that I know is that 3 days on this cleanse/fast and no dairy has been huge.
It's now end of day 3 fast/cleanse. I am seriously considering a vegan diet after this. I am drinking more water than ever before and it's a good thing. No fatigue, hunger pains, or difficulty. Today it became clear that food is more psychological and emotional than physiological. This is day 3 of a life long commitment to change habits that don't support a healthy fit environmentally responsible balanced life.
