Cold water will solidify the oily substances in the food that have been consumed. Cold water or beverages slow down digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with stomach acids, it breaks down and is absorbed by the intestines faster than solid food. The 'sludge' lines the intestines first making the intestines less equipped to proccess food, waste and nutrients.
